Clos Lussault

~ Clos Lussault ~

Composed of four guest houses that can be rented separately or together: Leonardo, a 2 bedroom 150m² house that sleeps 7 maximum, Raphaêl, 130m² with 2 bedrooms and a sleeping attic, which sleeps 6 maximum, Donatello, an entirely troglodyte space of 130m² with two bedrooms and a sleeping mezzanine, which sleeps 6 maximum, and Michelangelo, 140m² with one bedroom, a livingroom/bedroom and an attic dortoir that sleeps 8 maximum.  There are "secret passages" that can combine Michelangelo to Donatello to Raphaël, making Clos Lussault the perfect place, whether you are a small group or two dozen.

Please find their individual information, along with their photos, prices and availability, on their separate pages - on this page I have the photos of the grounds and auxiliary spaces.

The Spaces

Our 'Clos Lussault" runs along the rue du Village in the small hamlet of Lussult-sur-Loire, about 5 kilometers from Amboise.  It has three traditional houses and three courtyards, the houses are connected by a series of caves which we have renovated.  They had previously been used in winemaking and as a museum of viticulture, we have preserved all of the wine presses and fascinating materials left from that era.

The Neighborhood

If you are looking to spend some time in the Loire Valley, this location is fabulous – Amboise is about five kilometers in one direction, Mont Louis is about 6 kilometers in the other direction.  Walk down our road and you are at the Loire River. There are multiple bicycle routes and walking paths, canoe rentals on the Ile d'Or and hot air balloon excursions.  In Amboise, you have the castle and Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci’s residence, which houses many of his experiments, designs and paintings. You’re a half-hour drive to Tours in one direction along the Cher, and a half-hour drive to Beauval Zoo and Park in the other direction.

About Me

My photo
Frankly, I never thought I'd end up living here but - you see, I met a man. On a ski trip - Alps - chalet - fireplace - well, it's been over twenty years. I can't give you the complete insider's guide to France yet, (I believe that takes three generations) but I can give you an ex-New Yorker's guide to this fabulous Valley of Kings. We'd started in Paris, of course - our first studio was my husbands - that's where we lived once we decided to share a continent. We were there until our son was about negative-one-month old, and we didn't want to have to convert the bidet into a bassinet. Once we moved, I started renting out that apartment and everything fell into place. As an architect, I loved fixing up the apartments, and as an ex-pat, I loved meeting the people who come to enjoy their vacations in Paris. Now, we’ve made the move out to the Loire Valley. We've renovated two glorious properties here, creating several fabulous vacation homes, you’ve got to see the pictures. The locations are perfect for exploring the region – the chateaux, the wine, the scenery, it’s beautiful.
